Linked
datafiles |
You can link datafiles to create
a relational database. This is done using a new type of field, called a link
field.. You can use linked fields just like any other fields in queries,
tables, graphs, etc. Linked datafiles can be nested to any level |

Field
types |
There are four other new field
types - time, picture, check digit and input mask. |

Copying
records |
You can now copy several records
to the clipboard when editing a datafile, and paste them anywhere else in the
datafile. You can also use this facility to import or export records to or from
Excel or other programs which have data in table form. |

Validation |
There are many more options for
validating data in a data file, including minimum and maximum character count
and spell checking. You can also validate one or all fields retrospectively -
useful when you have imported a CSV file. |

More
choices |
You can now allow more than one
choice in a multichoice field - useful for surveys of favourite TV programs
etc. You can then choose to graph any of the choices, or just the first, second
or third choice in each record. |

Record
cards |
There is a new layout for a
table, called card layout. You can design it yourself, rather like a form to
collect data. It always shows one record at once, and you can move through the
records using the buttons. If you have a picture field in the datafile, then
this layout enables you to see each of the pictures. |

New
graphs |
There is a new type of graph
which combines a bar chart and a line graph. You can also add a second field to
a bar chart which is used to divide each of the bars. You can now show up to 10
fields to a line graph, provided that they can all share the same vertical
axis. |

CSV
files |
There are now more choices when
reading CSV files, including the ability to sort out missing field
names. |

Long
filenames |
FlexiDATA now supports the use of
long filenames and you can also see long folder names in full - no more
MyDocu~1. The program uses the Windows Explorer style of dialog to load
and save files. |

Style |
FlexiDATA now allows you to
specify the style used for each field in a table - for example the way dates
are shown, or the number of decimal places or forcing text be in capitals or
lower case. You can also apply the same rules when a datafile is being created.

Check
spelling |
FlexiDATA now includes a spell
checker, which is used for field names, explanations, text items, etc. You also
have the choice of switching on the spell checker for any text
field. |

More
data |
There are now much more generous
limits for the size of datafiles - they can have up to 20,000 fields and
100,000 records. |
